Photo Release: Chevron Contributes US$2 Million to Thailand Flood Relief

Bangkok--3 Nov--Chevron Chevron through its subsidiaries, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. and Chevron Thailand Limited (marketer of the Caltex brand in Thailand), today announced that it will contribute US$2 million (approximately 60 million baht) to support the disaster relief and long-term reconstruction efforts in response to the widespread flooding in Thailand. The Thailand Flood Relief Operations Command will receive US$1 million to support the government agency’s response efforts related to flood relief activity providing shelter, food, water, sanitation and clothing to those affected. The additional US$1 million will be allocated to a Thailand-based non-government organization (NGO) to support restoration efforts in the affected provinces. Chevron employees will also participate in the restoration program. Pierre Breber, deputy managing director, Chevron Asia South Ltd., today presented to Yingluck Shinawatra, Thailand’s prime minister, a donation check of US$1 million at the Thailand Flood Relief Operations Command to support flood relief activities undertaken by the Command Center. The presentation was also attended by Pairoj Kaweeyanun, president, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. and Adrian Bendeck, country chairman and general manager products, Chevron Thailand Limited. “Thailand is suffering from its worst flooding in 50 years and an immediate and significant humanitarian response is needed to support those affected by this disaster,” said Breber. “Our contribution will support the country’s critical efforts to respond to the flooding, and to provide the day-to-day necessities to those displaced by this tragedy.” Kaweeyanun said, “In this time of crisis, Chevron has proved its strong commitment to supporting our local communities. We are concerned for the current well-being of the communities in the flood hit areas, as well as their future.” Earlier in October, Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production donated US$130,000 (approximately 4 million baht) in supplies to the Ministry of Energy to support the flood relief effort. More than 200 Chevron Thailand personnel and their families together with nearly 1,000 volunteers from local communities took part in this initiative by helping pack about 8,000 flood relief bags at Chevron’s Bangkok office, SCB park plaza. In addition, Chevron Thailand Limited, in October, presented a contribution of US$33,000 (approximately 1 million baht) to the Thai Red Cross Society to aid relief efforts for communities affected by the flooding situation in Thailand.
