Bangkok--3 Nov--DC Consultants Over ten thousand Thais are joining forces at “Ratchaprasong Do D Volunteers to Help Flood Victims”, a social media volunteer campaign to make 100,000 EM balls, adding to the existing 30,000 balls made earlier, to distribute to flood victims facing polluted water from the floods. The event is being held from November 3 - 5 at Event Hall, 1st floor of Amarin Plaza, by the Office of D Ambassador in collaboration with the Thai Health Promotion Foundation, Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), DMG Books, DC Consultants and Marketing Communications, Gaysorn Group, Amarin Plaza, Gaysorn Plaza and other partners. Danai Chanchaochai, Chairman of the Office of the D Ambassador, said that the current situation is that Thailand is experiencing a crisis of the most severe flooding in 50 years in the central region. Residents in more than 21 provinces including Bangkok and its vicinities are suffering severely, in terms of housing. Various industrial estates were affected, resulting in hundreds of thousands of workers losing their jobs immediately. Plantation crops were damaged in a wide area. There are shortages of food and water. All parties are affected, both mental and physical conditions that must be restored and healed quickly. However, in the midst of the crisis, opportunities always arise. It has been very apparent about the helping hands of all Thais reflecting the compassionate and great volunteer spirits of Thai people. Harmony plays its part without prejudice to those who have different opinions in order to overcome this crisis together. “Apart from helping each other during hard times, Thai people continue to demonstrate their commitment to unity, keeping it together, through donating necessities and money to flood victims while giving them moral support as well. But what we will certainly face now is the polluted water caused by flooding and the accumulation of garbage and sewage. This will become a hotbed of disease that can cause health problems. Therefore taking care of the environment is also important in combating such problems. And during this time of crisis like this, the EM Ball is one of the best solutions that is so effective. It is available in shops, inexpensive, and importantly you can make it by yourself," Danai said. A tennis ball-sized EM Ball (Effective Microorganism ball) that many people would have seen in the media is the creation of a mass of microorganisms capable of treating waste water caused by a polluted environment. It was discovered by Professor Doctor Teruo Higa, the discoverer and intellectual developer of EM Technology, at Ryukyu University, Okinawa, Japan. The main components comprise of soil fertility and fine quality rice bran, bran, molasses, water and microbial inoculum. Chairman Chai Srivikorn of Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA) said that despite the flooding, people from all walks of life, ranging from flood victims to flood-affected residents including those who are safe from the flood but worry about the current situation, are helping each other through making EM balls for polluted water rehabilitation. This demonstrated that everybody still has faith and believes in the unity of the Thai people that never lets fellow citizens down. Particularly, in such severe crisis situations like this, this has underscored the real meaning of “Unity is Power”. In addition, making EM balls also has advantages in many other areas, such as helping in relaxing your mood, relieving stress, clearing the mind. It enables you to spend leisure time usefully and proves a good example for the Thai society that not only helps in water treatment but also "heals mental health" for the people facing this crisis as well. The event is aimed at making 100,000 EM balls and has received cooperation from artists from A Time Media, Virgin Radio, Thai TV Channel 3 and many more. Activities include mini concerts by various artists, garage sales and Dhamma Delivery talk show by Phra Maha Sompong Talputto. Money and donations will go to Chai Pattana Foundation, Princess Pa Foundation, Thai Red Cross Society. All the proceeds from this performance will be donated to help victims.
