Mazda Encourages Thais to Fight against Flood Donates Bt1 million for flood victims

Bangkok--7 Nov--Mazda Sales Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd. wishes the Thai people strength and courage to withstand and overcome the current flood crisis. Mazda Sales (Thailand) has donated the first amount of Bt1,000,000 for flood victims through the Natural Disaster Relief Fund, Prime Minister’s Office. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra personally received the donation. The Thai PM received the donation from Choichi Yuki, Managing Director of Mazda Sales (Thailand) along with Marketing Director Sureetip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, at the Flood Relief Operations Center, Don Muang International Airport. Mr. Yuki said “Thai people are now suffering from its worst flood in several decades, with millions being affected. The flood has caused tremendous effects to lives and property, as well as the well-being of the Thai people. As a representative of Mazda in Thailand together with the distributors and Mazda staffs nationwide I, as well as every Mazda employee, would like to express my sincerest condolences to the Thai people, and would like to encourage everyone to remain strong and be able to fight against the crisis. Disaster this time affected most people including Mazda, our employees & families, business partners. They are also suffering the same fate. Mazda and Thailand has long-term relationship and we are best friends who are ready to provide helps and supports when another is in need.” Sureetip said, “Every Mazda employee and Mazda dealers have come out to express their concerns to the situation. Mazda is determined to grow with the Thai society and have always been a part in the growth of this country. This time we have sent our own employees to perform flood relief activities in areas that are difficult to reach. We went to assist flood victims with what they need, and also recruited employees as volunteers at the Thammasat Relief Center in Rangsit. We don’t look only at helping people during the flood, but also at offering assistance to vehicle owners after the flood drains. Announcements to help flood victims will be announced through our dealers across the country. A long-term relationship between Mazda and Thailand is last long. During the 2004 tsunami in Thailand that caused widespread damage to life and property to several provinces in the country, Mazda also acted quickly, raising more than Bt2 million and two pickup trucks with national dealers. Mazda Motor Corporation also made an important contribution of Bt18 million through the Rajprajanukroh Foundation to build a 3-storey 18-room school in Phang-Nga province. Rajprajanukroh School later became the largest provincial school, and the building was handed over successfully. The East Japan Quake and Tsunami earlier this year had caused a halt in global production, including Thailand, and Mazda Sales (Thailand) donated Bt884,000 through the Thai Red Cross Society to help aid victims. Parent company Mazda Motor Corp had previously donated an initial 30 million Yen for quake and tsunami victims.
