ING Life has allocated a fund of 1 million baht to help children who lost their parents as a result of the flood disaster. ING Life anticipates allocating 10,000 baht per person. Currently, Thai flood death toll has reached 527.
Mr. Ignacio Aguilar, Chief Executive Officer, ING Life Limited reported that the flooding this year has covered many provinces and caused approximately 527 casualties, according to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, as of 7 November 2011. The majority of victims are heads of households and their death has impacted the families’ income, resulting in the loss of opportunities to their children.
ING Life, therefore, has launched the “ING Life Supports Orphans of Flood Victims” program that has budgeted 1 million Baht to provide scholarships to orphans who lost their parents due to the flooding. Each person will receive 10,000 baht toward their education.
The eligible criteria for scholarship applicants are as follows;
The applicant is between 5 - 22 years old and studying from kindergarten level to undergraduate level
The applicant lost parents due to the flood situation between July, 29th 2011 to December 31st, 2011
The applicant’s home is in a flood affected area, according to the report from The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.
To find the eligible candidates for this program, the Company has cooperated with relevant organizations i.e. the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and District Administration Organization that will provide the children’s names and profiles to ING Life Limited.
