Bangkok--18 Nov--IMPACT Exhibition Management
IMPACT continues to offer relief to employees and the general public who have been affected by the flooding in Thailand. IMPACT has contributed Bt1.5 million to purchase and distribute relief packages, set up a mobile kitchen program, provided spaces for over 10,000 cars, and arranged free shuttle bus services for flood victims in the community. Meanwhile, some 200 displaced employees have already received Bt4,000 each in financial help plus relief packages. After the water subsides, employees will be offered Bt20,000 home repair loans at zero interest. In addition, IMPACT plans to organize a Big Cleaning Day event in preparation for the upcoming Motor Expo.
Mr. Paul Kanjanapas, Managing Director of IMPACT Exhibition Management Co., Ltd., which operates IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, said the current flooding situation has adversely affected people’s mental well-being as they have had to closely monitor the situation around the clock. As the venue’s owner, IMPACT understands the stressful situation and is making an all-out effort to assist. A joint decision has been made by IMPACT and the organizers to reschedule events and reallocate spaces.
IMPACT has provided both immediate and ongoing assistance for flood affected people and those living in risk areas. The company contributed over Bt1.5 million to purchase and distribute relief packages to affected communities and set up a mobile kitchen program. So far, over 100,000 meal boxes have been provided to victims and flood relief volunteers in Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and nearby areas. IMPACT will continue the mobile kitchen program until the situation is back to normal.
In addition, IMPACT provided spaces at Indoor Parking 2 and IMPACT Challenger Hall for people residing in flood risk areas to park their cars free of charge. Since October 14th, the venue has accommodated over 10,000 vehicles. The company also contributed 700 concrete barriers to build flood protection walls in the areas along Klong Prapa, Srisaman Road, Nuanchawee Bridge, and Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Park. 100 boats and 200 tents were donated to local organizations to assist affected employees and the general public in flood hit areas. A 6-wheel truck is also available for free transportation for those who need to travel along the Klong Prapa-Chaengwattana-Lak Si route. Free rides are available twice a day, between 07.00-10.00 hours and 16.00-18.00 hours. Moreover, IMPACT Link shuttle service also offers free rides between the Srisaman Intersection to Somdej Phra Srinagarindra Park Intersection.
For effective flood relief organization, IMPACT has formed a Crisis Management Team or CMT to closely monitor the flood situation at its venues and surrounding areas 24 hours a day, and help coordinate the provisioning of flood relief materials, machines and food supplies, and work closely with the Pakkret Municipality. In addition, IMPACT has set up a 24-hour flood information center to handle public queries about the water level in Muang Thong Thani and requests for assistance. The telephone number is 0-2833-5777(8).
So far, IMPACT has provided immediate assistance for some 200 employees to boast their morale as the company recognizes that their employees’ safety and welfare are top priorities. For those who are seriously affected and unable to go to work, IMPACT allows them to take leave in addition to their annual vacation days. Initially, the company has allocated financial assistance of Bt4,000 baht plus relief packages and meal boxes for each affected staff. IMPACT has also arranged a shelter to accommodate displaced employees and their family. A special loan program was set up to offer each employee a Bt20,000 home improvement loan with zero interest and 1-year payment term.
However, IMPACT is not only providing assistance for employees directly affected, but also offers rice and drinking water at reasonable prices for employees who have been indirectly affected by the floods. The company has also promoted the spirit of volunteering among employees through a number of activities such as building sandbag barriers, contribution and distribution of relief packages, and free meal provisions in the affected areas of Wat Salak Nua, Klong Prapa, and Klong Rangsit.
On November 22nd, the IMPACT executive team and employees will join the Big Cleaning Day event to help clean the venues in preparation for the upcoming Motor Expo to be held during December 1st — 12th, 2011 at IMPACT Challenger Hall.
