Presented for the first time in 1992, La Grande Classique de Longines has taken its many refinements from the prestigious Agassiz collection, launched in 1982, whose solid gold models were a tribute to the founder of a brand that celebrated its 150th anniversary that year. Since then, this collection has become Longines’ symbol of classical elegance and has proved extremely popular all around the world.
Made out of steel, yellow or rose PVD or a combination of steel and PVD, the models in La Grande Classique de Longines collection are popular among women as well as men, who are instinctively drawn towards reliability and attracted by timeless elegance. These models are also available with a bezel set with Top Wesselton VVS diamonds.
La Grande Classique de Longines is manufactured in five different sizes (24, 29, 33, 35 and 37 mm diameter) and is fitted with a quartz movement. An additional 34 mm diameter self-winding model has a transparent back cover that reveals the intricate workings of the movement. There is a broad choice of dials — white, grey, lacquered black, gilded, ‘flinqu.’ or white mother-of-pearl — featuring Roman numerals, painted indexes or diamonds.
A large part of the beauty of La Grande Classique de Longines is the ultra-slim case — only 4.20 or 4.40 mm for the quartz models and an astonishing 7.05 mm for the self-winding model. This ultra-thin profile has been achieved through the particular design of the case, which incidentally Longines has patented, whereby the back incorporates the lugs for the bracelet.
Thanks to the suppleness of its fine links, the bracelet fits snugly on the curve of the wearer’s wrist. It has a triple folding safety clasp which is opened by using push-pieces. The black alligator straps are fitted with a buckle.
