LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has today demonstrated its support for the Klongtoei District by donating a garbage grinder worth 100,000 baht for use by the community.
In support of Klongtoei District’s ongoing campaign to encourage residents to reduce, reuse and recycle, the garbage grinder can turn tree branches, water hyacinth and other natural waste into fertilizer and fermented biomass. The donation is in line with LG’s green vision, and adds to the company’s other extensive contributions to the community and environment.
Thunyachate Ekvetchavit, Marketing Director, LG Electronics (Thailand) Co., Ltd explained that “At LG we feel passionately about our contribution to society. We value being an integral part of the communities we operate in, and our aim is to help them improving the environment, so we are pleased to donate this garbage grinder to the residents of Klongtoei District. This will not only help by reducing the huge volume of garbage produced, it will also save energy and bring down pollution. Our support is also in response to Klongtoei district’s campaign to stimulate people in the community to ‘Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’.”
Wiparat Chaiyanukij, Director of Klongtoei District office added that “Klongtoei District is very grateful for LG’s support. The Klongtoei District is served by the Klongtoei Market, which hosts more than 20,000 shoppers daily, and is open 24 hours a day. Because of its popularity with residents and visitors, the Klongtoei Market produces 30-40 tons of biological garbage, such as fruits and vegetables, daily. The garbage grinder donated by LG will help to turn this waste into fertilizer and fermented biomass, which will be used for increasing the fertility of soil. It will also help to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Finally, we will all achieve our district’s aim of becoming a green community, and the people in our community will have better health.
“This support will help to produce more fermented biomass, which will be given to flooded areas that are now faced with polluted water,” Wiparat concluded.
