The advanced technology highlights its space and energy saving capacity, while maximizing the bank’s security and protecting customer’s confidential information in each branch’s location. HP Thin Client is environmental friendly and lowers energy consumption by as much as 75% compared to traditional desktop solutions, thus reducing greenhouse gas emission and minimising the impact on climate change. CIMB THAI Bank in collaboration with HP provides the best customer experience to increase customer satisfaction by enhancing its operations with HP Thin Client technology across CIMB THAI branches nationwide. To continuously managing operational costs in financial service sector, CIMB Thai has regularly evaluated current operations in order to deliver more values through enhanced IT product and service offerings. Some of key challenges were desktop replacement costs, high maintenance to support branches, increasing security management and decreasing time spent in deployment of software releases, patches, and upgrades. To choose an alternative computing solution, strategic IT requirements on system platform, standard features and implementation plans were taken into consideration, with the business objectives including to lower total cost of ownership while improve return on investment, ease of deployment and management, to increase reliability and to address data security threat, and hardware compatibility with designated job functions. By implementing HP Thin Client Technology, CIMB Thai will be able to continuously leverage on the synergies within the CIMB Group to deliver more value to our customers, while maximizing value realization through enhanced service delivery capability with a focus in cost savings. With HP Thin Client Technology, the Bank is also able to provide better service to its customers as the personal computers used by the branches would be faster, more secured and reliable, significantly cutting down customers’ waiting time,” HP Thin Clients are compact, energy efficient computing devices that function as access points to a centralised processing and storage unit (server). The devices do not have any hard drive to store applications or data locally. Thin Client protects customers’ information and enhances CIMB Bank branches’ systems security. “We had experienced traditional desktop challenges across different branches, and always lookout for more appropriated IT solution which can offer easier manageability, higher reliability and enhanced security.” Added Mr Krishna. During migration to a new IT environment, CIMB Thai experienced no downtime implement the Thin Client system. The implementation covered mainly at CIMB’s teller counter units (over 350 units) and the rollout took about six months since early January to June 2011 to complete. Roughly, 30-60 minutes was reserved during transition, per one Thin Client.
