Bangkok--6 Dec--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) reveals that there are 53 companies and seven executives nominated for the SET Awards 2011 and the SET Award of Honor, to compete for a total of 35 awards in an annual ceremony on December 22 at the SET building. “It is the first year that the exchange discloses the list of nominees. The distinguished judging working group has seen the impressive growth and development of listed firms, capital market organizations, brokers and asset management firms. The SET now has a trading volume of almost THB 30 billion per day and offer various products to cope with investor demand, as well as strong firms which have had continuous growth since 2008 until the third quarter of this year,” said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira. “Although some listed firms have been hit by Thailand’s floods, the visions of their executives, their dedication and excellent cooperation from their employees proved the promising potential of Thai businesses in adapting for a strong recovery,” he said. Santi Viriyarungsarit, Editor-in-Chief of Money & Banking Magazine, the SET Awards co-host, said: “SET Awards is an high-profile award to honor the companies and executives which have been outstanding in many aspects in order to recognize them and hold them up as good role models for the Thai capital market. Many past awardees have won recognition at the international level. This award should be a motivation and leading indicator for companies, paving the way to leadership at regional and global levels. This year’s event is the eighth year under the concept “Empowering the Thai Capital market towards regional leadership.” A new award, Best Derivatives Broker Award, will also be presented this year following the fast-growing derivatives market in Thailand.
