Bangkok--8 Dec--Xinhua News
A new album featuring Her Royal Highness Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s visits to China during the past three decades made a debut in Bangkok on Thursday, underlining the long-time friendship between the two countries.
The album, published by China’s Xinhua News Agency Bangkok Bureau, is entitled “Everlasting Bond: A Dedication to the 30th Anniversary of H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn’s First Visit to China”. It includes a prelude written by H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn and dedications from prominent Thai monk V.Vajiramedhi and Xinhua President Li Congjun.
About 100 precious pictures taken by Xinhua correspondents recording H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn’ visits to China over the past 30 years are displayed in chronological order in the album. It is a vivid manifestation of the everlasting and unbreakable bond between the princess and China and an important reference material for the study on the history of China-Thailand relationship.
The pictures are chosen from the photo exhibition “Xinhua Gallery: China and Thailand as one family” staged by Xinhua in Bangkok this August. It was also an event to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Thailand and the 30th anniversary of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn’s first visit to China.
Since 1981, H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn has paid 33 visits to China, setting foot on all the Chinese provinces. She also dedicates herself to the learning of Chinese language and culture, greatly promoting its popularization in Thailand.
For her outstanding contribution to the cultural exchanges between the two countries, the princess has received many rewards such as “China Language and Culture Friendship Award”, “International Literary Prize for Understanding and Friendship” and has been recognized as “Top Ten International Friends of China”.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn is an old dear friend who is deeply loved and respected by Chinese people,” Shi Xianzhen, Xinhua Bangkok Bureau Chief, said during the launch ceremony held at the Siam Paragon department store in central Bangkok.
“Due to time limit, many people could not come to enjoy the exhibition, so we decide to publish this album. We hope it will help more people learn and bear in mind the great contribution H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn has made to the development of China-Thailand relationship and to the friendly causes undertaken by the two countries,” he added.
The album, written in Thai, Chinese and English, is priced at 159 baht. It is now put on the shelves of Amarin Book Store, SE-ED, B2S, Chula Book Center and other major bookstores in Thailand. The revenue will be donated to H.R.H Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Foundation. Enditem
