Bangkok--13 Dec--VERVE Jim Thompson Farm will soon to reopen its door for visitors to relish a charming experience of local Isan culture amid beautiful nature of colorful plants and blooming flowers with Jim Thompson Farm Tour 2011. An activity that will fill your relaxing day with lively and colorful moments, the farm tour will give visitors a scenic view over a golden field of sunn hemp in full bloom and creatively presented beds of pesticide-free vegetables mimicking the ‘sam bai yai’ pattern of Isan’s ‘khid’ woven fabric. Looking above the fields of sunflowers and Cosmos, visitors can feel the winter breeze playing with these colorful flowers while a hill of giant pumpkins provides a breathtaking backdrop alongside a yard with countless pumpkins laid in Isan’s ‘khid ta’ and ‘khid luem om’ fabric patterns. The farm tour also retraces Isan way of life with a pavilion exhibiting oversized wickerwork of traditional Isan household utensils, such as ‘kratib khao’, ‘khong’ and ‘zume’. To absorb the lovely Isan culture, the farm features Isan Village and Artist Village that will expose visitors to the simple way of Isan life, including organic rice farming and local vegetable garden. Visitors can enjoy a variety of spicy, delicious Isan food and see or even have a try on Jim Thompson’s traditional process of screen printing on silk fabrics. The Artist Village presents a large collection of works created by renowned artists under Art on Farm project, including a ‘sim klang nam’ or Isan-styled lake temple that is rarely seen today in Thailand. Some more picturesque views can be seen towards hills blanketed with flowers in various colors and also flower gardens and beds of hydroponic vegetables designed in Isan’s ‘khid lai mangmoom’ and ‘khid dok sroy’ fabric patterns.
