Tra Chang and COTTO join forces to launch“Home Renovation after Flooding” campaign
as part of SCG “Home Renovating for Happiness” program to help flood victims
Tra Chang and COTTO jointly launched “Home Renovation after Flooding” campaign as part of SCG “Home Renovating for Happiness” program to help flood victims. A total of 20 stores and centers in Greater Bangkok and the provinces, including Home Solution Centers, Tra Chang Roofing Centers, COTTO Studios and SCG EXPERIENCE operate as centers to provide professional advices on roof, ceiling, floor, bathroom, kitchen and landscape to owners of flooded homes. The two brands are partnering with the Engineering Institute of Thailand Under H.M. The King’s Patronage (EIT) to produce 100,000 copies of “Home Renovation after Flooding” booklet for distribution to people affected by the flood, enabling them to conduct safe and effective assessment of the damages to their homes.
According to Brand Director Anuvat Chalermchai of the Brand Management Office at SCG Building Materials Co., Ltd., people whose homes have been damaged by flooding are in need of expert advices to ensure that they can make the right decisions on safe and proper home renovation, especially when it comes to structural work, ceiling, wall, floor, and electrical and plumbing systems that require the expertise of relevant professionals. Tra Chang and COTTO brands have joined forces to launch a campaign “Home Renovation after Flooding” with an aim to extend the needed help to homeowners affected by the flood. Under this campaign, SCG’s experts from both Tra Chang and COTTO will be stationed at Home Solution Centers, Tra Chang Roofing Centers, COTTO Studios and SCG Experience in 20 locations across Greater Bangkok and other flood-hit provinces to give expert advices about home renovation after flooding at no cost to the customers.
“We encourage homeowners whose homes have been flooded and need renovation to think of us and seek professional advices from our experts at Home Solution Centers before they start assessing the damages and begin renovating their flooded homes. Our teams of experts are there to provide advices on how to safely and easily assess the damages by themselves, with a comprehensive checklist provided to ensure effectiveness of the assessment,” said Mr. Anuvat.
“The first visit to your home after flooding is the time to be especially careful. You need to make sure before entering the house that you are safe from electrical hazards, which can lead to electrocution,” he continued. “Tra Chang and COTTO have therefore partnered with volunteering engineers from EIT’s Engineering Clinic and Thai Electrical & Mechanical Contractors Association (TEMCA) to produce 50,000 copies of “Home Renovation after Flooding” booklet. It serves as a basic manual for the general public to properly plan their home renovation after the flood. The content is divided into six main parts: structural work, electrical system, plumbing and sanitation systems, interior decoration, landscape, and the preparation before entering the home to assess the damages after flooding. The booklet is designed to provide a set of basic guidelines and tips for home renovation, both DIY and utilizing professional services.”
Mr. Prasong Tharachai, an advisor at EIT, added: “The first thing that the homeowners should do after flooding is to study this booklet in details, especially on the preparation before visiting the home to assess the damages to ensure their own safety. For example, we recommend returning only when floodwater on the road in front of house has receded to a level not higher than 10 centimeters and the water in the house has completely drained away. The most important thing is to double check with the area electricity authority office if they have disconnected the main power line to the area to ensure that the home is without any danger from electricity leakage. The booklet produced by Tra Chang and COTTO in partnership with EIT will be a very useful reference for every flood victim.”
“To make our assistance and booklet widely accessible for flood victims in need,” Mr. Anuvat said, “interested home owners can ask for a copy of this booklet at 20 locations of Home Solution Centers, Tra Chang Roofing Centers, COTTO Studios and SCG EXPERIENCE.
