Bangkok--19 Dec--Volvo Group The deal is immediately effective and new models are ready to be unveiled come next year. Business arrangement concluded with former distributor, Tan Chong Group Limited, in October UD Trucks now ready to go to market on its own Business partner, Tan Chong Co., Ltd., has been assigned the task of assembling the trucks until Volvo Group is ready to take over in 2013. Volvo Group (Thailand), the sole authorized distributor and assembler of Volvo trucks in Thailand, has announced its readiness to supply high-performance Japanese trucks in Thailand. The announcement came after the company had reached a business deal with Tan Chong Co., Ltd., the former sole authorized distributor and assembler of UD Trucks (formerly Nissan Diesel). Volvo Group now holds the exclusive right to assemble and distribute UD Trucks in Thailand, and, as a business partner, Tan Chong Co., Ltd. is contracted to assemble the vehicles until end of 2013 to ensure a seamless transition. “Volvo Group and Tan Chong have been in close discussions over the last several months and we have successfully reached an agreement we are both satisfied with, whilst the exact term are to remain confidential.”, Mr. Christophe Martin, President of Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd. Mr. Martin further added that, “The agreement will enable our company to boost our sales very quickly. With UD Trucks, we are confident that we will satisfy customers in many major segments. UD Trucks is widely regarded for high-standard Japanese specifications and for its Ultimate Dependability.” “What’s important is that we are now capable of offering a wide range of heavy-duty vehicles to satisfy the varying demands of our customers around the world.”, said Mr. Martin. Mr. Martin also stated that, “The Volvo Group now plans to invest a substantial budget of 2 BTHB in improving our assembly network, our distribution and service channels, as well as, human resources development. This is an additional budget to the 1 BTHB investment previously made. These significant investments should help underline our commitment in taking the assembly and distribution excellence in Thailand to international levels.” “Customers of UD Trucks can rest assured that we are ready to offer a comprehensive range of after-sales services covering spare parts, machinery and trained mechanics.” During its peak years, as many as 1,500 UD Trucks heavy duty were sold each year, making up over 15% of the market share. Our current plans are to regain that 15% market share within three years. In Thailand today, there are currently over 8,000 UD trucks on the roads. “We are developing networks of sales and aftersales across the country, includes appointing new UD Trucks dealers in December.
