The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Money & Banking Magazine announce the 35 winners of SET Awards 2011, with Somchai Thaisanguanvorakul, Chairman of Executive Committee of SNC Former pcl, winning Best CEO award for this year. The ceremony is being held today at the SET building with Kittirat Naranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, presiding over the ceremony and bestowing the awards, said SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira. “There are 27 SET Awards and eight SET Awards of Honor. The latter recognition is to honor listed firms which have achieved sustained excellence in the same category for at least three consecutive years. In addition, this is the first year that the SET and the magazine will also grant awards to companies and top executives who are nominees for each award because they all have shown outstanding work and are to be commended,” Charamporn said.
Santi Viriyarungsarit, Editor-in-Chief of Money & Banking Magazine, said: “The Best CEO award of this year belongs to Somchai Thaisanguanvorakul, Chairman of Executive Committee of SNC Former pcl, because of his remarkable management and capability to convey his vision and concept of work to all executives and staff, enabling the company’s sales to grow more than ten-fold over the last six years and moving up from being a small-sized firm to a prominent middle-sized one on the exchange.”
Panas Simasathien, Distinguished Chairman of the SET Award 2011 Judging Committee, said: “This year’s results reflect every firm’s earnestness to continually perform with excellence. The eight SET Awards of Honor go to Bangchak Petroleum pcl (BCP) and The Siam Cement pcl (SCC) for continuous excellence in corporate social responsibility; while BCP, Kasikornbank pcl, Krung Thai Bank pcl, PTT Pcl, Somboon Advance Technology pcl, and SE-Education pcl won the award for continuous excellence in corporate governance reports.”
This year’s event is the eighth year to honor companies and executives which have been outstanding in terms of performance, corporate governance reports, investor relations and corporate social responsibility.
