Following the overwhelming success of the Smart Kids Savings program in the past year, which achieved more than 160,000 accounts, Siam Commercial Bank is continuing its pursuit of developing a savings habit among children and youths by launching Smart Kids 2. The campaign, running from now until December 31, 2012, seeks to encourage parents to set a good example for children and instill a habit of saving money. To make it more attractive, the product will be promoted through well-known cartoon characters Princess Bell and Ben 10 Ultimate Alien. With an initial deposit of as little as 2,000 baht, customers will receive a coin bank, passbook envelope featuring either one of the two cartoon characters, and a Smart Kids card. Account holders will also enjoy a new cartoon stamper with a new design each time they regularly deposit 500 baht or more every month.
Speaking about the deposit product, Siam Commercial Bank Wealth Division Executive Vice President Mr. Smith Banomyong said that, " The Smart Kids program launched last year gained wide acceptance from young customers, with the Bank opening more than 160,000 accounts. The Bank was proud that the product has helped in developing a savings habit among young people, who are our future. This year, the Bank is continuing its marketing campaign through popular cartoon characters to encourage kids to save money. To set a good savings example, Parents are also invited to take part in the deposit campaign. The Bank expects that parents and children will be interested in opening about 120,000 new Smart Kids accounts in 2012."
Smart Kids 2 program is a savings deposit program for children up to 15 years old. With a minimum initial deposit of 2,000 baht, account owners will receive a Princess Belle or Ben 10 Ultimate Alien cartoon collection, comprising a coin bank, savings passbook, and a Smart Kids card, which can be used for balance inquiries and depositing money at any SCB ATM or CDM nationwide. With SCB's extensive network of 1,094 branches and 8,459 ATMs, the Bank is confident that children will be able to deposit money conveniently. In addition, with continuing deposits of 500 baht or more every month, account owners will get a new stamper with different designs every month. The same benefits will also apply to existing Smart Kids customers with new deposits that meet conditions.
The Smart Kid Savings 2 program also offers Long-term Deposit Smart Kids and Fixed Deposit Smart Kids programs for parents who would like to save money for children for the future. Offering high interest rates with tax exemption and a box for collecting a Stamper Set, the Long-term Deposit Smart Kids offer requires regular deposits of 1,000 to 25,000 baht every month for a period of 24 months. When depositing the money for 24 months, principal and interest will be automatically transferred to a 24-month fixed deposit account.
