DuPont views the auto refinish market will continue to grow in 2012. Vehicles damaged by the recent flooding have undergone refinishing at auto garages and the local automotive industry has been stimulated by the government’s “first-car” taxcut measure. Confident in strengthening its leadership in Thailand’s auto refinish market, the company will implement to devise an aggressive marketing campaign by highlighting product quality and offering auto refinish trainings to auto dealers and garages, as means to improve service quality and reduce their operating costs.
Sittisak Anuntaprayoon, Business Manager of DuPont Performance Coatings, Du Pont (Thailand) Ltd, revealed that Thailand’s auto refinish market may enjoy a 10% year-on-year growth in 2012, thanks to the current demand for auto refinish service as driven by the recent flooding and the healthy prospects of the overall auto industry following the government’s implementation of the “first-car” taxcut policy, which boosts expansion of the auto refinish market. The company viewed the situation as favourable to its auto refinish business.
“2012 will be a great year for the auto refinish market. More auto service centres will provide auto refinish service to their customers. The number of auto refinish garages will also increase, which will result in heightened competition and, hence, rising demand for the capacity to provide high quality services. This means that those businesses will choose the products preferred by their patrons. And we see this as an opportunity for us to increase the number of customers in the auto refinish market”, said Sittisak.
He added that in 2012 the marketing strategy of DuPont auto refinish business will focus on introducing to leading auto refinish market in the near future the innovative, eco-friendly DuPontTM Cromax Pro waterborne basecoat, as a technology which helps reduce pollution and is safe to users and of premium quality. In addition, the company will provide technical service team to assist and support in bodyshop management, cost analysis and inventory management in order to allow them to run their business efficiently and improve their operating performance.
DuPont will utilise its unique strengths of Regional Technical & Colour Centre, which is based in Thailand and equipped with state-of-the-art technologies that make available hundreds of shades for each colour. The center offers up to eight shades for each primary colour, which allows the auto refinish technicians to pick the colour that most resembles that of the vehicles, thus making them finish their work faster. It is expected that by the end of 2012 DuPont Thailand will launch four or five new auto refinish products onto the market.
Montri Kampo, Marketing Manager, DuPont Performance Coatings, Du Pont Thailand Ltd, said that the company will conduct its marketing and aftersale service activities by jointly designing management plans with its customers and underlining the excellent quality of DuPont refinish products under the slogan ‘Global Thinking, Local Acting’. In this regard, in order to improve the skills of the customers’ auto refinish technicians the company will organize trainings on how to provide services that meet DuPont’s standards, including those on how to determine the colour patterns, how to balance the colours, how to pre-condition the surface and how to spray, as well as those on safety issues. It also improves the service quality of auto refinish market by signing collaboration agreements for development of auto refinish systems, in order to gain customers confidence.
