Bangkok--19 Jan--Unithai Unithai in collaboration with Reader’s Digest (Thailand) has donated 317 books worth 686,104 baht to 20 schools hit by the recent severe flooding in the Bangkok area and other provinces in Central Thailand. Unithai Group’s Managing Director Arthit Pratoomsuvarn, and senior management from Unithai Shipping & Logistics and Reader’s Digest have recently presented the books to Bangkok Governor Sukhumphan Boriphat and high-level officials from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). The 20 schools under the supervision of BMA receiving the books are located in districts that had been inundated, including Don Muang, Thawi Watthana, Bang Bon, Sai Mai, Bang Phlat, Laksi, Bang Khen and Nong Kham. Repair work is continuing at the schools, but many of the books in their libraries were ruined, so the 317 books being donated will be greatly appreciated. Reader’s Digest, a global publisher of books and the world’s most widely read magazine published in 50 editions in 21 languages, is not only a major client of Unithai warehousing and logistic services but also its partner in the community assistance network. Reader’s Digest has contributed a large number of books to Unithai’s School Development Projects since 2009. These were donated to unprivileged children at 14 schools in several provinces, including six schools on Koh Chang in Trat province, one on Koh Si Chang and seven others in Chonburi, Phetchaburi, Chaiyaphum and Chiang Rai.
