? Strengthening of international network ahead of Jetstar Japan domestic launch
The Jetstar international network to Japan continues to grow, with a new Osaka to Singapore service (via Manila*) announced today.
The new four times weekly Airbus A320 service starts on 25 March 2012* and represents an additional 1,400 seats per week in-and-out of Japan.
This new route follows a doubling of capacity on the popular Jetstar Asia Osaka-Taipei-Singapore route and the recent announcement of a new Jetstar Airways Tokyo-Manila-Darwin route.
CEO of the Jetstar Group, Bruce Buchanan, said the additional capacity would give Japanese travellers more choice as well as new potential for increased inbound tourism from Singapore and the Philippines.
“Since the start of this year, we’ve announced a total of more than 5,000 additional seats per week in-and-out of Japan,” Mr Buchanan said.
“Jetstar international services from Japan are popular because they offer a very affordable and reliable service on modern aircraft with helpful crew.
“These services are also bringing thousands of visitors to Japan every week, helping strengthen the local economy,” Mr Buchanan added.
The Jetstar international network will link with a domestic network when Jetstar Japan starts operating before the end of 2012.
Jetstar Japan recently filed its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) application with authorities. The new airline has already received close to 9,000 expressions of interest for 450 cabin crew positions and about 500 applications for 100 pilot roles.
