Gems and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT presents the occasion of its new relocation to demonstrate its potential in gem and jewelry inspection to support the growth of Thai gem industry. It aims to increase its services up to 70 percent as well as being able to support demands from foreign countries to bring in gems and jewelries for inspection without having to pay import taxes (Free Zone) in response to the Free Trade Area policy in both ASEAN region and worldwide.The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT had launch an opening ceremony of its new administration office at the ITF Tower on Silom Road with HE Kittiratt Na Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce presided over the ceremony along with over 25 associations, clubs and various business groups in Thailand led by Mr. Somchai Phornchindarak, President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association. The event includes a fashion show of jewelries designed by members who participated in the institute's workshop courses, as well as the jewelry designs from the GIT Gem and Jewelry Design Award project. Various top models and Thai celebrities also joined the event. Mrs. Wilawan Atichat, Director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand said that the new office is located in the center of the country’s gem and jewelry business, coupled with its four times larger area with over 2,600 sq. m. to support the expansion of the gem and jewelry industry in Thailand. The new premise consist of gem and jewelry library, gem and jewelry museum, gem and jewelry training center, gem and jewelry testing center, precious metal assay and hallmark center and information center. The Director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand also said that the institute has increased more channels to reach out to customers by launching a Free Zone for traders in ASEAN and other countries, allowing tax-free gem and jewelry imports into Thailand for inspection and back to the country of origin for a faster and more convenient process. Furthermore, the institute has prepared an English gem and jewelry estimation course to expand its line of services and support more demands in the future. “The Institute is ready to be the center to support and push forward the gem and jewelry industry to a global level, especially in Asia, with full potential and exalted customer service that will build sustainable trust. On an occasion of the grand opening of the institute’s new administration office, we would like to offer privileges to traders and anyone interested to receive an inspection service with us. There would be a 25 percent discount for gem and jewelry testing service and 20 percent discount for precious metal assay and hallmark center. We also offer membership for only 100 Baht as a reward for those who come for our service on this special occasion,” Mrs. Wilawan concluded.
