Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd. continues its corporate community engagement Triple E program. This global program provides funding to enhance community engagement projects in partnership with highly reputable development organizations. In Thailand, Chevron has worked closely with the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) since 2010. Pairoj Kaweeyanun, president of Chevron Thailand, presented a check of US$415,000 (approximately 13 million baht) to Wilas Techo, vice president of Population and Community Development Association (PDA), for a community development project in Nakhon Si Thammarat during 2012-2014 with a focus on the flood-affected areas.
The first phase (2010-2011) of the Chevron-PDA community support project in Chumpon was completed with a success. For this second phase, Chevron will work with PDA during 2012-2014 to implement the project in Nakhon Si Thammarat. This project aims at enhancing the knowledge, skills and capabilities to tackle the socio-economic impact from natural disasters and better prepare for future crisis to selected communities. This project targets to promote saving habit to local communities by setting up village development banks for villager to manage and build on, which will lead to skills, career and other development projects and educational assistance in their villages.
