Photo Release: Chevron celebrates Platong Gas II’s First Gas Production

Bangkok--30 Jan--Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production Recently, Pierre Breber (4th left), managing director of Chevron Asia South Ltd., Pairoj Kaweeyanun (3rd left), president of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., and Brian Burke (2nd right), general manager, Assets, of Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, Ltd., hosted a celebration of the commencement of natural gas production from Platong Gas II project in the Gulf of Thailand to key stakeholders. The new Minister of Energy Arak Chonlatanon (5th left) gave Chevron an honor by presiding over the ceremony and delivering congratulatory remarks. Honorable guests joining this celebratory dinner included Dr. Norkun Sitthiphong (5th right), permanent secretary of Ministry of Energy, Dr. Kurujit Nakornthap (4th right), deputy permanent secretary of Ministry of Energy, Nopadon Mantajit (2nd left), Energy Regulatory Commissioner, Dr. Songpope Polachan (left), director-general of Department of Mineral Fuels, Nobuo Ishii (right), managing director, New Ventures & Asset Management, of Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd., and Anon Sirisaengtaksin (3rd right), president and chief executive officer of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited. The US$3.1 billion Platong Gas II Project commenced its first gas production on October 20, 2011. The natural gas from the Platong Gas II project has helped increasing the country’s domestic production by more than 10 per cent, and boosting Chevron’s net gas production from the Gulf of Thailand by more than 20 percent to ensure a reliable supply of energy needed to sustain the growing demand of Thais.
