The Honda Group of Companies in Thailand by Mr. Pitak Pruttisarikorn, Executive Vice President, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Ministry of Education by Secretary-General Dr. Chinnaphat Bhumirat presided over the opening ceremony of the national championship competition for the OBEC — Honda 31 Legs United Race Year 7 program to win the honorary trophy from HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. Thailand’s 31 Legs United Race Year 7 champion is a team from the Wat Jedyod school from Chiangmhai, with 09.00 seconds.
According to Mr. Pitak Pruttisarikorn, Executive Vice President, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., “The 31 Legs United Race Year 7 has been running between 2011 — 2012 — the period that is very meaningful to all Thai people as this marks an auspicious time to celebrate His Majesty’s 7 cycle 84th birthday anniversary. In this national championship round that assembles 30 leading teams nationwide, the organizing committee delivers an exclusive 31 Legs 30 Teams United Marching activation under the theme, “Together Being United to Honor His Majesty the King”. This marks the core concept of the 31 legs united sport that features getting together with unity. On this special occasion, 900 members of 30 teams will get together to be united in honor of our Beloved King, who is the center of Thais’ heart and loyalty”.
Dr. Chinnaphat Bhumirat, Secretary-General of OBEC, stated, “OBEC’s mission is to develop Thai youth to enhance their knowledge and morality. Unity is a component of morality and it is very important to solidify our nation to pass through all crises. As a co-host of the competition, OBEC is very pleased to be a part of this initiative to nurture the seedlings of unity into the spirits of Thai children nationwide. These young athletes will enhance their experiences from the competition and share the power of unity with other people so that they will get together to build a solid and well-established society.”
The 31 Legs United Race Championship of Thailand will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the Hua Mark National Stadium. The 30 teams will each have only one chance to run 50 meters in the 31 legs united competition. If any member of the team falls or someone’s ankle fastener comes off, the entire team must return to the spot where it happened and resume running to the finish line; however, the clock will not stop. The racing time ends when the last team member crosses the finish line. The team with the fastest time is the winner in the national championship competition and will receive the HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhon’s trophy and a 50,000 baht team development fund.
