Inspired by successful, modern women, the new Joan & David collections re-interpret the classics. The trench coat, an essential for women in the city, receives a sophisticated makeover this season with the ethereal new In Bloom print replacing plain old beige. The classic tweed jacket is subtly reinvented in an innovative mix of yarn and ribbon to create a textured effect, mixing heritage luxury with new technology. The shift dress, a staple in every urban woman’s wardrobe, is given new character by flattering pleats and draping at the waist, interesting fabric panel details, and the chic new prints of Spring. Colour blocking, a key direction for the season, is elegantly created in beautiful twin sets and knit dressing in gorgeous pinks and oranges .
The season offers the minimalist elegance of black and white, and pure white worn head-to-toe. But it does not stop there. A joyous palette celebrates the full Spring/Summer spectrum, from fuchsia and coral, to lavender, sunny yellow and turquoise. Befitting the season of re-birth, the new Joan & David collection showcases a number of extraordinary prints. Romantic Spring blossoms are artistically interpreted on prints, such as the colourful, abstract Cherry Blossom and the geometric Oriental Flower print. Blocks of primary colours pay homage to the iconic paintings of Mondrian and Ellsworth Kelly. Equally bold, the new painterly Fantasia and botanical Stained Glass prints bring feminine glamour to pleated skirts and dresses.
