CES awards for OLED TV, 3D Technology, Smart TV, and more offer taste of new product innovations
LG Electronics (LG) has demonstrated its technology and design innovation leadership by winning 21 awards at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), consisting of 12 CES Innovations awards, and nine awards from established industry experts, further solidifying its position as a leader in developing cutting-edge products. The company plans to extend its leadership in 3D and Smart TV technology, as well as core technologies for home appliances, such as LG’s 6 Motion Inverter Direct Drive Washing Machine, linear compressor refrigerator and air conditioner products, in addition to LTE technology (4G) in smartphones and tablets.

The LG 55EM9600 55-inch OLED TV was chosen by CNET as ‘Best of Show at CES 2012’, named the most exciting, innovative, and promising new product at the show. It also won the TechnoBuffalo Best of CES award, the Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice and an HD Guru Top Picks award. Using self-lighted organic pixels, the 55-inch screen class (54.6-inch diagonal) OLED TV exhibits precise color, absolute contrast and blazing clarity, with a contrast ratio of over 100,000,000:1, fifty times greater than that of LED/LCD display panels.
In addition, the LG 84LM9600 84-inch 3DTV won the ‘Best 3D TV’ HD Guru Top Picks award. The 84LM9600 is the world’s largest Ultra Definition (UD) 3D TV, boasting an 84-inch class screen and superb picture quality with 8 million pixels, four times the resolution of existing Full HD TV panels.
LG’s BH9420PW, a ‘3D Sound’ home theater system, won the IMS Research TV Innovations ‘Immersive Award’. The BH9420PW incorporates LG’s 3D sound technology with a state-of-the-art Blu-ray system, and enhances the 3D experience by adding a dimension of height to the audio field and synchronizing audio with 3D picture depth.
