Fashion Steps Out @ Orchard 2012 will showcase the newest spring and summer collections from around the globe. New collections are presented to the public on the longest outdoor catwalk in town, where guests can get up close and personal with models and designers as they brightly illuminate the cutting edge of the latest international fashion trends.
The 6-week event will begin will a big bang when fashion literally steps out onto Orchard Road for the Opening Night on 17 March. 100 regional and local models will take to the runway in a fashion show of high street brands, set amidst alfresco caf?-style seating for VIPs, guests and shoppers.
The event will also feature Asian Model Search, a high-profile model contest that seeks to uncover Asia’s next top model. And making this event more interesting is that the public gets to decide and vote for their favourites! In addition, Singapore looks forward to Fashion Installations by the creative young minds of Raffles Design Institute from 12 March onwards.
Visitors are also invited to take part in fashion workshops where they will learn from professional stylists and participate in fashion-themed photography exhibit. “Fashion Gets Real” is a fun and interactive series of workshops where shoppers are able to style themselves with the latest spring and summer styles and get advice from a panel of fashion experts. The best-styled participant wins the outfit (held weekly at participating malls).
Fashion bargain hunters will also be elated with the vast selection of wares on offer in the Orchard Road area, with Orchard’s 22 shopping malls, six department stores and over 2000 brands to choose from. Grab some star buys from high-street legends at the Fashion Bazaar held at Mandarin Gallery from 23 to 25 March; a chic, trendy fashion soiree in a lifestyle-bazaar setting.
If retail therapy is the order of the day, then it’s probably best for fashion lovers to stay in Singapore for several weeks!
