Honda Ayutthaya assembly plant reopens to operate at full capacity

Bangkok--2 Apr--Honda Automobile Announces commitment to Thai society with “Honda Thailand Fund” launch Anticipates 300 million baht will go into the fund in the first year, accumulative fund value could reach 1,000 million baht Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. today announced the official reopening of the production line at its assembly plant in Rojana Industrial Park in Ayutthaya, which closed down on October 8, 2011, due to the flood. The company plans to operate at full production capacity of 240,000 units per year in response to market demand. Honda also announced it will make a contribution to the newly-established “Honda Thailand Fund” (or Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund) for every one of its products sold in Thailand. The fund will be used to help Thai people during any future disaster. The official open house ceremony that took place today was presided over by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra. Many VIPs also attended, including Mr. Seiji Kojima, Japanese Ambassador to Thailand; Deputy Prime Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit; Minister of Prime minister's office Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisal; Industry Minister M.R. Phongsawat Svastiwat; and Mr. Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., along with Honda business partners and dealers. Mr. Takanobu Ito, President and CEO of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., said, “Thailand is among the three key markets for Honda in the Asia & Oceania region, along with India and Indonesia. Thailand has been and will remain a very important production base in the region for Honda to supply quality products to meet customer demands in these markets, as well as tap the future potential of growing markets.”
