The third ‘Asian Beach Polo Championship InterContinental-B.Grimm’, Asia’s only beach polo tournament got underway at the weekend, with the Winning! for Thai Polo Club over China Polo team with a score of 4-2. The tournament concluded on Saturday April 7th at beachfront of InterContinental Resort Hua Hin and the winner won the Princess PA’s Cup. The Asia’s only beach polo tournament was co-organized by Mr.Suwat Liptapanlop, in his capacity as the Advisory Chairman of Organizing Committee for Asian Beach Polo and Mr.Harald Link, chairman of B.Grimm Group as the Beach Polo Organizing Committee Chairman. The game was organized to raise funds for the ‘Kamlangjai Project’ or Inspire by Princess PA, initiated by HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha. The game was also set to promote Hua Hin as one of key international sport destinations in the world.
High socialites with good hearts at the Asian Beach Polo Championship this year including H.E.Mr.Rolf Schulze, Ambassador of Federal Republic of Germany to Thailand; M.L.Pavaris Kitiyakara; Navarat Kitiyakara na Ayudhya; Jitrsumarn Amatyakul; Sariya Sivayu; Patcharapimol Youngprapakorn, Proudputh Liptapanlop; Farn Sritrairatana; Sasina Napasab; Pornsri Prachuabmoh; Tipaporn Ajanant; Srisuphang Morris; Siriyos Devahasdin na Ayudhya; Jate Sopitpongstorn; Kanjanista Ruangsoorat; Rita Jira and etc.
The event started off with a colorful parade of every horse in Hua Hin led by a school marching band along the beach to the delight of the socialite crowd. As the tide coming during mid-afternoon, the beach polo matches started to play before noon. The game started by the competition for the 3rd place between Macau Polo Team and India Polo Team which India Polo Team won the game with a score of 6-3?. Then it came to climax for the battle between Thai Polo Team led by Harald Link and China Polo team. China Polo Team started off strongly and quickly put the first goal on the board. However, in a hard fought, Thai Polo Team outlasted China Polo Team with a score of 4 to 2. Our host Thai Polo Team won Princess PA’s Cup.
Highlight of the event also included beach-themed fashion show on horseback by Burberry and La Perla while serenaded by KPN award singers Platong-Tanyananth Thongsrithanapong and Art-Akarin Chaikaewsakulchai. The horseback fashion show presented by honorable and professional models such as Vachini Krairiksh, Pimpan and Pimlaor Pookaiyaudom, Pananya Tardthong, Naruemol Chamlertwat, Aroonnapa Panichjaroon, Pimolmas Kitchaisawad, Cherapa Auttama and many more. In addition, the awards for ‘Best Dress’ went to Siriyos Devahasdin na Ayudhya and ‘Best Hat’ for Mark Thawin P.Siaotong were presented. The day ended with cocktails, and sumptuous dinner along the beach were served under the setting sun.
