As a mark of recognition for Earth Day on 22 April 2012, ONYX Hospitality Group, Thailand’s leading hotel management company in partnership with Sakura Products (Thailand) Co., Ltd, a leading company for stationery and office supply in Thailand, has announced the third annual ‘Arts for The Planet’ painting competition. All students in primary school (P4 — P6). junior high school (M1 — M3), high school (M4 — M6) and equivalent learning institutions in Bangkok, Central and Southern Thailand are invited to take part in this year’s painting contest held under the theme, “Colours of Future”. The event is aimed at engaging the younger generation with art to foster critical thinking on environmental issues. Winners will enjoy scholarships and valuable prizes from ONYX Hospitality Group.
The Southern entrants will come together to create their paintings in a competition on 17th August to be held at Suratthani School, Suratthani, and on 24th August at Lumpini Park, Bangkok for Central students. Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on 7th September at the Ballroom, Amari Watergate Bangkok.
180 exhibited paintings will be available for sale to raise funds for the ONYX Hospitality Group Foundation. The exhibition is scheduled to take place from 18 to 23 September at Bangkok Art and Culture Center.
Conditions of Competition
- Schools can submit an unlimited number of student entries, arranged in 3 levels:
- Primary school (P4-P6), using Sakura chalk colour products
- Junior high school (M1-M3), using Sakura poster colour products
- High school (M4-M6), using Sakura water colour products
- Must render painting onto paper size A2 (15 x 22 inches)
- Painting must be painted live within 3 hours at the competition as scheduled
- 30 pictures will be selected from the qualifying round for each level to go into the final round
Prizes in each level
1st Winner 10,000 Baht Scholarship with honorary plate, 1-room accommodation voucher from Amari, and Sakura stationary and painting set
Distinguished Prize 8,000 Baht Scholarship with honorary plate and Sakura stationary and painting set
Honourable Mention 5,000 Baht Scholarship and Sakura stationary and painting set (5 prizes)
*All finalists will receive certificate and 500 Baht Scholarly donation.
