SSI celebrated the arrival of the first historic steel slab shipment which had been shipped from SSI Teesside to Prachuap Port. This shipment of 48,000 tonnes steel slabs is valued at US$30 million. They will be used as raw material for SSI Bangsaphan’s hot-rolled coil production, generating raw material stability for SSI.
Ms. Wanna Tangcharoenching, Vice President of Commercial Division of Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc. (SSI), together with executives and staffs celebrated and welcomed first lot of 48,000 tonnes steel slab shipment valued at US$30 million which had produced by SSI Teesside, the United Kingdom and were shipped by a vessel named “BLUE FIN” to Thailand in order to be used to produce hot-rolled coil at SSI Bangsaphan plant. The shipment has arrived Prachuap Port, Bangsaphan on 15 June 2012.
Vice President of Commercial Division revealed that “This first steel slab shipment to Thailand is another significant milestone reached by SSI. This event not only symbolizes our first step towards becoming a world class steel manufacturer, but also signifies the fighting spirit of SSI and our people and proves that “anything is possible.” These steel slabs will be used as raw material for SSI Bangsaphan’s hot-rolled coil production, generating raw material stability for SSI. Moreover, this will increase SSI’s negotiating power in steel slab procurement and enhance cost competitiveness going forward.”
