According to Global Trade Atlas’s statistics, the global market for packaging machinery last year was valued at US$17 billion. France is considered the world’s 7th leading exporter for packaging machinery (valued at US$652 million in 2011 which was a 5.2% increase from 2010). France’s main customers are Germany, United States, Spain and Italy while its main suppliers are Italy and Germany.
Although Thailand’s packaging machinery imports from France is only 1.1% of its total imports value last year of US$318 million; during the past two years, there has been considerable growth in French packaging machinery imports into Thailand, from US$2 million in 2010 to US$3.6 million in 2011 which is amount to 80% growth.
