The Thai Institute of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry recently granted two excellence awards to the winners of the 5th Sci & Tech Innovation and Sustainability Awards (STISA), which have been supported by Dow Chemical Thailand and SCG Chemicals for five consecutive years. Mr. Sommai Sirilertsombat (far right), President of the Institute, Ms. Poranee Kongamornpinyo (2nd left), Public Affairs Manager of Dow Chemical Thailand, and Dr. Suracha Udomsak (2nd right), Managing Director of Texplore Co., Ltd., a subsidiary company of SCG Chemicals, presided over the award presentation ceremony at SCG Experience.
For the undergraduate category, the excellence award prize of 50,000 baht was granted to the research project titled, “A Preliminary Study of the Quality Assessment of Tuna Fish Purchase using Near Infrared (NIR) Spectroscopy” by students from the Faculty of Engineering, Kasetsart University (Kamphaeng Saen Campus). For the graduate category, the excellence award prize of 100,000 baht was granted to the research project titled, “Lead Free Niello…New Evolution of Thai Nielloware” by students from the Faculty of Science, Srinakharinwirot University.
The STISA program encourages students in engineering and applied sciences to develop their project management skills, foster creativity, and strengthen scientific competency to create a community of future innovators in sustainable development that will support the country’s long-term economic growth.
