Exhibition of Pakistani contemporary art being held in Bangkok

Bangkok--4 Jul--The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan The Embassy of Pakistan, Bangkok , in collaboration with the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), is organizing an exhibition of contemporary art from Pakistan at the BACC from 12-22 July 2012. The exhibition, titled “The Colour of the Narrative”, forms part of a series of events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Thailand. Curated by Salima Hashmi -- noted artist and leading figure of the Pakistan art community -- the exhibition showcases works by young and mid-career Pakistani artists -- including Naiza Khan, Adeela Suleman, Ayesha Durrani, Atif Khan, Abdullah Syed, Imran Mudassar and Saba Khan. According to Pakistan ’s Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Sohail Mahmood, the art exhibition is intended to show the creative side of Pakistan and strengthen the people-to-people dimension of Pakistan-Thailand relations. The exhibition includes myriad works including sculpture, photography, mixed media, digital works, acrylics and miniature painting. As part of the programme, artist Ayesha Durrani will conduct a workshop on miniature painting on 13 July 2012. The same day, Prof. Salima Hashmi will deliver a talk on the Evolution of Pakistani Art.
