Big C shows successful H1 performance with 6.2% sales growth and 55.8% net income increase

Bangkok--21 Jul--The Way Communication Big C Supercenter PCL continues to show growth in all areas in the first half of 2012. The company’s retail sales rose 6.2% while rental and service income increased 13.4% — driving gross profit up 8.2% and net income up 55.8%. Ms. Rumpa Kumhomreun, CFO and Vice President for Accounting and Finance of Big C Supercenter PCL, reveals Big C’s 2012 half-year performance that “the company is exhibiting growth in all areas reflecting Big C’s successful operation and will go forth in its business expansion to deliver maximum value and satisfaction to customers nationwide.” Ms. Rumpa declares that “Big C’s H1-2012 retail sales grew to 54,434 million THB (+3,167 million THB or +6.2% from the same period last year). Rental and service income also grew to 3,873 million THB (+457 million THB or +13.4% from the same period last year). Consequently, gross profit in H1-2012 rose to Baht 7,944 million baht (+603 million THB or +8.2% from the same period last year). Net income then rose to 3,165 million THB (+1,134 million THB or +55.8%).” “For second quarter of 2012 alone, Big C retail sales grew to 27,753 million THB (+1,317 million THB or +5% from the same period last year). Rental and service income also grew to 1,973 million THB (+204 million THB or +11.5% from the same period last year).
