Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Redefines 'Khao Chae' with Four Rare Regional Grains

As the summer sun warms the heart of Ratchaprasong, Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel invites you to rediscover Thailand's most cooling culinary tradition with a twist. This April, the hotel's renowned international buffet, Flavors, will feature a "Regional Heritage Khao Chae," showcasing rare rice varieties from the four corners of the kingdom.

Departing from the traditional use of a single rice grain, Renaissance Bangkok is championing sustainability and local farmers by allowing diners to customize their Khao Chae experience with four distinct, nutrient-rich rices:

  • NORTH (The Highland Soul): Buesomi Rice, a rare heirloom grain from the Karen hill tribe villages, known for its soft texture and earthy aroma.
  • SOUTH (The Royal Legacy): Sang Yod Rice from Phatthalung, a GI-certified (Geographically Indicated) red grain prized for its high fiber and delicate sweetness.
  • CENTRAL (The Fragrant Heart): Hom Bai Toey Rice, a traditional Nakhon Sawan variety naturally imbued with the scent of fresh pandan leaves.
  • NORTHEAST (The Isan Treasure): Surin Black Jasmine, a deep-purple superfood rice that adds a bold visual and nutty complexity to the chilled jasmine water.
