The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP), in collaboration with Prince of Songkla University (PSU), has launched the "Thai SMEs New Opportunity Gateways" project to connect Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with global markets. The initiative aims to expand trade opportunities across Asia, ASEAN, the Middle East, and Europe, while establishing trade routes in four key economic hubs of ChinaHangzhou, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and Shenzhento boost the international profile of Thai products.
Dr. Panita Shinawatra, Deputy Director-General and Acting Director-General of OSMEP, stated that the project focuses on driving Thai SMEs onto the international stage. The initiative enhances business capabilities through strategic partnerships, business matching sessions, and distributor network expansion. In its initial phase, the project focuses on four major commercial hubs in China to maximize market penetration and elevate global recognition for Thai products.
Executed by OSMEP and PSUan institution with extensive experience in SME development and trainingthe project is supported by two key partners specializing in the Chinese market: Digilink (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Alibaba Group, China's leading technology and e-commerce enterprise.
Participating enterprises will benefit in three key areas:
- Government Support Mechanisms: Enhancing the country brand image and elevating Thai products in global markets.
- Market Expansion & Value Addition: Opening new trade opportunities, increasing economic value, and mitigating risks from global trade policy fluctuations.
- Business Partner Networks: Connecting Thai entrepreneurs directly with strategic business partners, distributors, and major buyers in China.
Unlocking Trade Opportunities in Four Key Chinese Cities OSMEP is prepared to pave new paths for Thai SMEs to venture abroad through strategic alliances, business negotiations, and distribution network connections in four key economic cities in China:
- Hangzhou: Opening opportunities for export-ready Thai SMEs, focusing on wellness and beauty combined with technology and innovation, as well as health tourism.
