WHAUP Expands Clean Energy Portfolio, Commences Construction of Its First 9.9 MW Solar Farm Project under FiT Scheme in Nakhon Ratchasima

WHA Utilities and Power Public Company Limited (WHAUP) continues to expand its investments in renewable energy. Most recently, Mr. Akarin Prathuangsit, Chief Executive Officer of WHAUP, presided over the construction commencement ceremony for the company's first solar farm project under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme to commence construction. The 9.9 MW project is being developed by WHA Solar Company Limited, a company under WHAUP, and is located in Thung Arun Subdistrict, Chok Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The ceremony was attended by representatives from local administrative organizations, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), and WHAUP executives.

Mr. Akarin stated that the commencement of construction marks another significant milestone in WHAUP's renewable energy business expansion, particularly in the development of clean energy projects under the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme. The project will further strengthen the company's energy portfolio, create opportunities for stable long-term revenue generation, and support Thailand's energy transition towards a low-carbon society.

WHAUP has signed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) for all six renewable energy projects under the FiT scheme, representing a total equity-attributable power generation capacity of 136 MW. The 9.9 MW solar farm in Nakhon Ratchasima is the first of these projects to commence construction and is expected to achieve its Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2027. This milestone demonstrates WHAUP's readiness to advance its renewable energy development projects in line with its investment plans.

"WHAUP remains committed to continuously expanding its clean energy business to meet growing energy demand and contribute to Thailand's energy transition. We prioritize investments that drive business growth while promoting environmental sustainability. At the same time, we place strong emphasis on collaboration with government agencies and local communities to ensure the sustainable development of our projects," said Mr. Akarin.

As of the end of the first half of 2026, WHAUP had a total equity-attributable power generation capacity of 1,052 MW, of which 542 MW was derived from renewable energy. The company continues to expand its clean energy investments across Solar Rooftop, Solar Farm, Floating Solar, and other renewable energy projects, while advancing next-generation energy technologies and solutions. These include Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Peer-to-Peer Energy Trading platforms, and Emission Reduction Solutions, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and supporting the industrial sector's transition towards a low-carbon economy.

WHAUP is also positioning itself to capture new investment opportunities arising from Thailand's forthcoming Power Development Plan (PDP) and government policies promoting clean energy. These initiatives will further strengthen the company's energy business and sustainably enhance the competitiveness of Thailand's industrial sector.

These efforts align with WHA Group's vision, "WHA: Shape the Future for Thailand," which reflects the Group's commitment to driving the growth of future industries and contributing to a sustainable future for Thailand.
