Siam Commercial Bank (SCB) and the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University will be presenting the prestigious "Seventh Bai Po Business Awards by Sasin” to five local SMEs. The award winners this year are Kaset Phattana Industry Co., Ltd., Thaitechnoglass Co., Ltd., Biodegradable Packaging for Environment PCL, Montri Transport Corporation PCL, and Lamptan Lighting Technology Co., Ltd. The awards reflect the strong potential and high quality of Thai SMEs. The award presentation ceremony will be held at the Siam Commercial Bank Talad Noi Branch, and presided over by Mr. Anand Panyarachun, Siam Commercial Bank Chairman of the Board of Directors.
SCB Business Banking Group Senior Executive Vice President Sirichai Sombutsiri noted that "The Bai Po Business Awards by Sasin are a collaborative effort between Siam Commercial Bank and the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University. Started in 2008 and organized annually to recognize successful Thai companies demonstrating distinction among peers, the award aims to inspire local business operators to be more active in continuously enhancing their capabilities, and to assist them in becoming role models for other local small and medium enterprises in setting standards and boosting sustainable economic growth. In addition it helps to enrich fundamentals of Thai SMEs in the long run and hence gaining new markets in AEC."
Sasin Deputy Director for Administrative Affairs Thiti Vejpas explained that, "Award winners must meet primary evaluation criteria and demonstrate distinctive qualifications critical to competitiveness comprising 1) customer focus, 2) innovation, 3) quality, 4) adaptability to change, 5) value creation, 6) branding, 7) efficiency, 8) leadership & team building, 9) social responsibility, and 10) entrepreneurship. These criteria are considered key to the development and strength of SME businesses. In selecting award winners, the Evaluation Committee Panel will judge qualified award recipients from candidates without ranking and limit to the number of candidates receiving the award each year."
Honorary Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce Dr. Ajva Taolananda, in his capacity as Chairman of the Evaluation Committee Panel, announced that the committee selected five companies to receive the awards as follows:
Kaset Phattana Industry Co., Ltd.: A manufacturer of farming equipment widely recognized both in Thailand and abroad for its expertise in customizing not-so-conventional and efficient equipment to meet customers requirements, was awarded for its distinction in Customer Focus, Branding, and Entrepreneurship.
Thaitechnoglass Co., Ltd. (BSG Glass): The Company has accumulated knowledge and expertise in producing top quality glass for three generations. Integrating modern techniques, the Company creates high quality functional, interior, and exterior glass for automotive and building use, widely recognized both in Thailand and abroad. Thaitechnoglass was awarded for its distinction in Innovation, Value Creation,and Customer Focus.
Biodegradable Packaging for Environment PCL: The Company produces biodegradable, compostable, and disposable packaging and tableware products from bagasse, a natural product made from waste sugar cane pulp. The products biodegrade in 45 days, can replace foam and plactic packages, are harmless to health, and environmentally friendly. The Company was awarded for its distinction in Innovation, Value Creation, and Social Responsibility.
Montri Transport Corporation PCL: The Company provides school bus transport for many international schools in Bangkok and suburbs as well as bus rental for personal and business use. For more than 40 years, company management has placed a priority on personnel, vehicles, and timely processes and services to minimize accidents. The Company was awarded for its distinction in Quality, Efficiency, Branding, and Leadership & Team Building.
Lamptan Lighting Technology Co., Ltd.: The Company is a manufacturer and distributor of light bulbs and lighting equipment, and places a priority on product innovation to create additional value. Its products have created awareness and recognition among consumers and business partners as a producer of energy-saving light bulbs. The Company was awarded for Innovation, Value Creation, and Branding.
The “Bai Po Business Awards by Sasin” awards presented to these five companies certainly reflect the power of Thai SMEs to propel business growth using strong management capabilities, creativity, innovation, value creation, customer focus, and social responsibility.
