Thai bourse supports seven persons, six organizations doing good for society

Bangkok--14 Sep--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Foundation honors and encourages the philanthropic acts of individuals and organizations through its annual “Social Recognition Project,” which this year granted a total of THB 12 million (approx. USD 375,000) to six organizations and seven persons, recognizing them as role models, as one of SET’s corporate social responsibility projects. This project, now being held for the sixth straight year, aims at increasing societal encouragement and building the morale of those doing good, and boosting the extent to which they benefit society. Sompol Kiatphaibool, Chairman of SET and the SET Foundation, said that the awards were granted to six organizations which have continuously benefited society and are widely accepted by the general public. SET granted THB 2 million to each organization and the charitable organizations have nominated persons who have sacrificed themselves for the common good in accordance with their organization's ideals to receive the awards and financial support from the SET Foundation. The organizations and individuals honored are as follows: 1. The Football History Association of Thailand for sports promotion, giving its grant to Pichai Kongsri and a group of independent person. 2. The Population and Community Development Association, for rural development, giving its grant to the “Yensiri Building — a restful place for patients and soul enlightenment” project of the Songklanagarin Hospital Foundation, Faculty of Medicine, Prince of Songkla University 3. The Professor Sangvian Indaravijaya Foundation, for educational development, giving its grant to Assistant Professor Kanok Tosurat 4. The Sugree Charoensook Foundation for music promotion, giving its award to Sombat Simla 5. The Thai Library Association for library development, giving its reward to two persons — Associate Professor Kulwara Chupongpairoj and Yupaporn Chumsaeng 6. The Vimuttayalaya Institute, for urban development, giving its award to the Rural Development Program for area improvement under royal patronage, Huay-Sak district, Muang, Chiang Rai. The SET realizes the importance of CSR and has incorporated social responsibility as a major part of its vision. This project aims at encourage more persons to devote themselves to do good deeds for society, which will result in upgrading the quality of life for the country as a whole.
