Big C Supercenter PCL continues to show growth in all areas in the third quarter of 2012. The company’s retail sales rose 7.9% while rental and service income increased 10.5% — driving gross profit up 7.4% and net income up 27.4%.
Ms. Rumpa Kumhomreun, CFO and Vice President for Accounting and Finance of Big C Supercenter PCL, reveals that Big C’s 2012 third quarter performance exhibited growth in all areas reflecting Big C’s strong same-store sales growth, successful marketing campaign and new store openings that helped increase sales and rental revenues. The company is ready to go forth in its business expansion to deliver maximum value and satisfaction to customers nationwide.
Ms. Rumpa declares that “Big C’s Q3 retail sales grew to 27,351 million THB (+2,003 million THB or +7.9% from the same period last year). Rental and service income grew to 1,991 million THB (+189 million THB or +10.5% from the same period last year). Consequently, gross profit in Q3 rose to Baht 3,710 million baht (+256 million THB or +7.4% from the same period last year). Net income consequently rose to 1,033 million THB (+222 million THB or +27.4%).”
“Big C’s successful performance in the third quarter of 2012 was a result of strong same-store sales growth, a series of successful marketing campaign tailored to customer behavior and preferences while focusing on offering "fun shopping experience" that complemented its price leadership by adding fun and excitement beyond normal shopping experience to customers nationwide. New store openings in Q3 also helped increased sales and rental revenues.
“During Q3, the Company continued its expansion plan and opened 3 Big C Supercenter hypermarkets in Satun, Loei and Mukdahan, 3 Big C Market in Rayong, Kanchanaburi and outskirt of Bangkok, 15 Mini Big C (including 2 Mini Big C opened at Bangchak petroleum stations), and 15 Pure drugstores. Company’s total number of stores at the end of Q3 2012 was 304 which comprise 112 hypermarkets, 18 Big C Market, 90 Mini Big C and 84 Pure drugstores. With these openings, Big C is on track with its 2012 expansion plan and prepared for its aggressive expansion for the next years,” Ms. Rumpa concluded.
