Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., today announced that since it officially resumed full production at its Ayutthaya manufacturing plant in April 2012, the company has successfully returned to strength in just seven months with the launch of nine new models and resulting continuous sales growth. Honda’s automobile sales for October reached 21,265 units. This represents an increase of 14% over the 18,614 units sold in September 2012 and set the highest-ever monthly sales record in the company’s history. Accumulated sales from January through October 2012 was 127,709 units, exceeding Honda’s previous annual sales record of 114,056 units in 2010. This is the highest-ever sales record in the company’s history even with the manufacturing plant resuming the full production for only seven months.
Honda was also the sales leader in October in Thailand’s passenger car market including the CR-V, which is also charged at the same passenger car tax rate.
Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Executive Vice President, Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said, “By early 2012, the flood had disrupted our production for many months. However, we were able to resume production rapidly and returned stronger, thanks to our employees contributions and great support from our customers, business partners and the government. We have launched the largest-ever number of new models since then, which has helped Honda to achieve several new sales records on a continual basis. We believe that accumulated sales will exceed our target of 170,000 units by the end of the year, which will be Honda’s largest-ever accumulated sales for an entire year.”
To continue to drive its sales, Honda will soon launch the tenth new model, the 1.2 liter Brio Amaze sedan specially designed for Asia, on Friday, November 23, 2012, at the Plenary Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. This will be the first Brio Amaze public appearance in Thailand, together with the Equation of Happiness mini-concert performed by popular Thai star Bie Sukrit Wisetkaew, the new presenter for the Brio Amaze.
