NHN Japan has announced that LINE, the world’s leading mobile messenger with social network service released 4 new free games that are integrated with LINE for the first time: LINE POP, LINE Cartoon Wars, LINE Homerun Battle Burst and LINE PATAPOKO ANIMAL. Also users who download the LINE games will receive free stickers made up of the games’ characters for unlimited use[i]. NHN Japan plans to accelerate its growth momentum through the integration of these social games on LINE’s platform.
LINE POP is a simple puzzle game that linked with LINE for the first time in order to LINE users can enjoy the game with their friends. Furthermore, since the game is patterned with famous LINE characters including Moon, Brown, Cony, and Sally, these beloved characters make the game experience even more enjoyable and irresistible. The goal is to match up three or more identical characters either horizontally or vertically as quickly as possible for a successful POP. When the characters are popped, their cute faces show surprising and hilarious expressions to make users feel more exciting and exhilarating during the game.
LINE POP is integrated with the mobile messenger LINE, allowing users to enjoy this game with their LINE friends. After one round, the highest score is automatically shared and ranked with friends and associates of LINE who also play LINE POP. These rankings, which are reset every week, not only encourage competition among friends but also fuel more interaction.
Every round requires use of one “Heart” and players are restricted to five Hearts in a row. Users can get Hearts for free by asking for LINE friends to send Hearts, waiting for eight minutes or inviting their friends to LINE POP. Also more Hearts can be purchased with the game’s currency, ‘Ruby[ii].’
LINE Cartoon Wars is a ‘Tower Defense’ game in which users must protect their tower while simultaneously try to conquer and destroy the enemy’s castle. Players will have to devise and combine various units (i.e. troops) for victory. In addition, users will have to navigate attacks using arrows to shoot at opponents. LINE Cartoon Wars is also linked with the mobile messenger app, LINE , so players can see and compare their rankings with friends who also play LINE Cartoon Wars.
LINE Homerun Battle Burst is a baseball game that supports both single and multiplayer. During the game, players will control the batter and try to hit as many home runs as possible before striking out. The farther users hit the ball, the more points they earn. Hitting home runs make the game more exhilarating but requires good timing and coordination. LINE Homerun Battle Burst is also linked with the mobile messenger app, LINE, so players can see and compare their rankings with friends who also play LINE Homerun Battle Burst.
LINE PATAPOKO ANIMAL is a shooting game that animals are trying to escape from the storybook world and in order to prevent them from escaping into reality, players will have to aim at the animals by releasing arrows. Once the arrows are released, they will need to tilt their devices so that the arrows go in the direction of the target. Players will be able to take on the challenge of completing all 72 stages. LINE PATAPOKO ANIMAL is also linked with the mobile messenger app, LINE, so players can see and compare their rankings with friends who also play LINE PATAPOKO ANIMAL.
LINE Birzzle was introduced on July 4, 2012 as the first LINE game and it hit 2 million users globally in just one day since its release and reached 10 million downloads in just 97 days. LINE Birzzle also ranked number 1 in the Top Free Apps chart in App Stores of 8 countries including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand and Malaysia.
