Bangkok--30 Nov--Golin Harris As the global leader in running, adidas continued its commitment to the sport by hosting its adidas King of the Road (KOTR) 2012 championship in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Singapore. KOTR is the only running championship spanning across five countries within the region, clocking an impressive 84km distance — the equivalent of two marathons. The championship saw four runners from Thailand battle alongside elite runners to claim Southeast Asia’s best of the best for males and females. And at the finishing line, Sanchai Namkhet and Saifon Piawong flew the Thai flag high when each of them crossed the line in 2nd position. Mr. Sanchai finished in a time of 55 minutes 7 seconds and Ms. Saifon Piawong for the female category in 1 hour 4 minutes 18 seconds. Both of them defeated Filipino runners who became King and Queen of adidas Southeast Asia King of the Road this year. The adidas KOTR 2012 brought 40,000 runners together from across the region as part of adidas’ commitment to the sport; Singapore marked the grand finale of the KOTR 2012 championship with the 16.8km race. adidas is grateful to all participants for making the adidas KOTR 2012 a truly successful running event for the second straight year.
