The Thai automobile market is witnessing healthy competition among auto makers due to the stimulation generated by the Thai government’s First Car Buyer program. Due to high demand of the Mazda2 and new BT-50 PRO, Mazda sales in November were 6,690 units, rising by as much as 236%. At the recently-concluded Thailand International Motor Expo, more than a record 85,000 orders were placed by auto buyers, and Mazda is one of the Top five most popular brands in the Expo this year, which enjoyed tremendous popularity from customers with a total of 6,164 orders place ranking 5, the highest ever achieved by Mazda at the Motor Expo. The priority from now is to quickly deliver Mazda vehicles to booking customers.
Meanwhile, visitors at the Mazda booth also responded positively to the Mazda SHINARI concept vehicle. As the final corner of the year arrives for the highly active Thai automobile market, the event that officially marks the final sales season of the year is the Motor Expo. This year the event concluded with tremendous success whether in terms of auto sales or attendance. At the Motor Expo, Mazda received strong interest from customers, and achieved record sales of over 6,164 units, which is also higher than the target previously set. As many as 4,099 orders were placed for the Mazda2 Sport and Elegance, including the sporty Racing Series limited edition. The Mazda3 2.0 and 1.6, along with the S+ limited edition, gained 500 orders, while the new Mazda BT-50 PRO, a favorite pickup for Bangkokians, created history by attracting more than 1,561 orders for the first time.
Choichi Yuki, Managing Director of Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co. Ltd., said the overwhelming number of orders is considered as Mazda’s success in creating understanding and awareness of Mazda’s “Zoom-Zoom” philosophy. “In particular is the breaking into a new market segment with the new Mazda BT-50 PRO Hi-Racer Double Cab raised 2WD, which boasts fun-to-drive character as well as a very high level of luxury and comfort from the spacious interior. Customers have widely accepted this pickup and it has stepped up to become the leader in this class. The large number of orders placed for Mazda vehicles at the Motor Expo, especially the 1,561 orders for the BT-50 PRO, is proof that we have torn down the walls that previously surrounded what people believe about pickup trucks. Thousands of Mazda vehicles on Thailand roads have proofed how Thai customers are confidence in Mazda quality in both product and after-sale service,” he said.
Mr. Yuki added that Mazda sales continued to grow in November, finishing at 6,690 units, rising by 236 percent compared to the corresponding month last year. Sales of the Mazda2 Sport and Elegance were 3,557 units (169 percent growth), followed by the Mazda3 with 375 units (18 percent growth), BT-50 PRO with 2,756 units (marking a historic 697 percent growth) and two units of premium models such as the MX-5 roadster and CX-9 luxury crossover.
