Bangkok--13 Dec--PR One Network Home Builder Association announces proactive strategy in 2013 with measures to solving the problems by coordinating with the government agencies to solve labor shortage crisis with an urgent plan. It will use a medium-term plan to push its members to ISO9001 and join force with educational institutions to set construction professional program to solve the problem in a long run. The association also says home building market next year will be stable and expects market value will be over 10 Billion Baht and housing price will rise by 4 — 8%. Dr. Patchara Tantayanyong, President of Home Builder Association, discloses that the association’s 2013 policy is to set measures to solve the problems which will include short-term, medium-term and long-term plan. The short-term plan which needs an urgent solution is to solve labor shortage crisis, especially skilled labors. The association will coordinate with the government agencies including Department of Skill Development and Construction Institute of Thailand to join in solving and improving work forces in construction sector. The medium-term plan will focus on development of potential and increase in competency for the members, particularly management. The association also plans to support the members to receive ISO9001 standard in 2013 to prepare for construction enterprise standard held by Construction Institute of Thailand. Currently, the association joins Construction Institute of Thailand in asking for a support from the Commerce Ministry and expects to promote the members to compete and invest in the regional level in Asean in the next 3 — 5 years. For the long-term plan, the association joins to set construction professional program in educational institution like Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok , Uthenthawai Campus. Additionally, the association participates in setting strategy with Construction Institute of Thailand to improve construction standard in Thailand in the future. “Labor shortage crisis is a critical problem that needs an urgent solution systematically, especially skill labor which is the current critical problem. The association, therefore, focuses on training, development and giving knowledge related to home building business consecutively. The association also joins hands with partners like government and private sector to accelerate solving this problem. As seen, there are some home builders this year slowing down taking a job and marketing plan and sales promotion due to labor shortage,” says Dr. Patchara. Another main policy is to build awareness of “home building” term which the association has always promoted. It remains an issue that needs to be continued through marketing events like Home Builder Focus, an annual home building fair. Moreover, the association will accelerate more communication with consumer through knowledge and understanding through academic articles like knowledge about home building, construction materials categories, knowledge about finance and etc. Besides, the association will focus on raising standard of home building business to be more acceptable among consumer, building awareness in term of academic and social services. Dr. Patchara adds that overall home building market in 2013 will be stable, compared with this year. In 2012, home building market value will total around 10.2 Billion Baht, lower than the target that the association sets. This is mainly due to some homebuilders that need to slow down taking a job and having limitation in building the unit as expected, as well as higher labor wages and labor shortage problem. However, the market in 2013 will have the same value to that in 2012. Meanwhile, average housing price will rise by 4 — 8% based on the country’s economic fundamental. Average budget for building a house will be around 3 — 5 Million Baht.
