Bangkok--19 Dec--Volvo Group
- The new vehicle is considered as a heavy duty truck for long-haul operation suitable for business preparing themselves to serve the competition after AEC
- The Volvo dual fuel engine is long-lasting high performance engine
Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd., the sole manufacturer and distributor of Volvo heavy-duty trucks and buses in Thailand from Sweden, is ready to launch its brand new heavy truck FM400 with CNG Dual Fuel feature, unbeatable value for the market.
Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd. has launched the new FM400 CNG Dual Fuel for heavy-duty truck, built for durability as a cutting edge option for logistic business market that is rapidly heating up with the integration of the AEC in 2015. The FM400 is expected to gain a large market share with exceptional features setting it apart from the competitors.
Mr. Jacques Michel, President, Volvo Group (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said the FM400 CNG Dual Fuel will certainly create a stir in the market as Volvo Trucks Dual Fuel System uses both diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) together at a ratio of 40:60, resulting in at least 35% savings in cost of fuel. It is also the first OEM-dual fuel heavy truck in Thailand which offers the same warrantee as the vehicle from other types of Volvo Truck over the world.
“What is more important is that engine power as well as engine wear will be similar to the diesel engine because the system is truly a dual-fuel mixture of diesel and CNG, not a selection of one over the other. With this truck, the transport business will be able to keep all the wheels rolling non-stop. If the CNG is running out of the tank, the diesel system simply takes over”, Mr. Michel said.
Volvo FM400 CNG Dual Fuel is a long haul heavy-duty truck with a 12.8 litre 6 cylinder engine, producing 400 horsepower at 1,400 — 1,800 rpm, the highest horsepower in its class. The engine produces 2000 Nm of torque at 1,050-1,400 rpm.; with exhaust brake offering 175 kilowatt at 2,300 rpm.
The price starts at 4.5 million baht with break-even point within 2 years with additional cost, compared to heavy trucks not equipped with CNG system. For more information on the FM400 and a test drive, please contact all 10 Volvo Trucks dealers all over Thailand.
“The Volvo FM400 CNG Dual Fuel is a good choice for businesses preparing for the ASEAN Community or AEC which will certainly result in fiercer competition in the market. Thus the launch comes at a good time to provide a quality option for all logistic enterprises”, Mr. Michel added.
The FM400 CNG Dual Fuel also strictly adheres to the philosophy of the Volvo Group as CNG is the most accessible alternative fuel. Used genuine parts can be exchanged for recycle parts available for a special price. Volvo is actively contributing to the protection of world environment, said Mr. Michel.
Meanwhile, Mr. Michel added that during the first three quarters of this year, 165,391 Volvo trucks were sold over the world, plunged by 3% when compared to the same period of last year, due to a slump in European and US economy which has not completely revived, while in Asia, 37,695 Volvo trucks have been sold, a reduction of 5% compared to the same period last year.
However, in the first three quarters of this year, Volvo truck sales in Thailand have grown rapidly. As many as 669 trucks have been sold, a rise of 42% compared to the same time last year. “Such growth can be attributed to the fact that, after tragic flood last year, Thailand’s market have been able to rebound rapidly with great stability so much that we were unable to deliver the trucks fast enough for demands”, Mr. Michel added.
As a result of consistent innovations that answer every clients needs, Volvo Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks and passenger buses, providing sustainable integrated transport solutions in over 140 countries. As a supplier of commercial transport vehicle, Volvo Group has offices all over the world- Europe, North America, South America, Africa and Australia, and as a responsible leader, has an imperative to maintain leadership in providing the highest quality and care to clients.
