Dacon sees inspection technology as spur to growth
Energy needs in Asia will drive business
Dacon Inspection Services expects to expand in Asia on the back of the advanced inspection services that it provides to the oil and gas, energy, petrochemical and mining sectors as the industry’s biggest players constantly strive to ensure the safe operation of their plants.
Managing Director, Martin Stuvik say the services that Dacon provides are expanding beyond traditional inspections to include advanced technologies, many of which are developed in house at their research and development facilities in Rayong.

As technology leaders these companies embrace new developments that can help them to achieve their goals” said Martin Stuvik, Managing Director of Dacon Inspection.

Dacon Inspection Services was established in Norway in 1979 and opened its offices in Thailand in 1996 in response to the fast growing needs of the energy sector in South East Asia.
The expansion of the business prompted the company to move to a new purpose built location with a full testing and research and development facilities at Ban Chang in Rayong, located close to the industrial center of Map Ta Put.
Dacon provides advanced technology inspections including specialized techniques for inspecting pipelines and critical tubing so found in power plants, refineries and oil and gas facilities.
“As a Thai company we are proud to develop and engineer technologies that are applied by oil and gas and energy companies around the world. We find ourselves invited to work in places as diverse as remote oil and gas projects in West Africa through to mining sites in Indonesia and Australia” Mr Stuvik said.
With strong International demand and continued growth domestically He said Dacon Inspection Services was making plans to float on the stock exchange of Thailand in 2014.
“Dacon Inspection Services would continue its expansion both domestically and internationally and would remain focused on high quality, advanced inspection services” he added.
According to Mr Stuvik, the company in the fiscal year ended December 2012 saw growth of 50% from a year earlier and has been recently approved under BOI.
Currently, long term contracts account for about 70% of the company's revenue, with the rest produced by ongoing work with non-contracted clients.
“We project that our long term contracts will grow significantly and that is a major focus for our business over the coming 12 months” he said.
