Global Battle of the Bands comes to Thailand

Bangkok--1 Mar--GHC Asia The Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB), regarded as the largest worldwide live music competition and community for bands playing their own songs is coming to Thailand. GBOB has played a significant role during the past 8 years in inspiring young national artists around the world to compete with their peers on the world stage, and providing a platform for them to be internationally recognized. National band ’battles’ will commence in Phuket on March 15, 2013 at the H2O, followed by contests in Pattaya on March 30th at Central Festival, Chiang Mai on April 27th at Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport and Bangkok on May 11th at the CentralWorld. Winners from each of these regional contests will vie for the grand prize at a National Finals concert to be held at CentralWorld Plaza in Bangkok on June 15, 2013. The grand prize consists of Baht 100,000 in cash, music equipment worth Baht 100,000, 2 days/1 night recording time at the state-of-the-art ‘Karma Sound Studio’ owned by world famous music industry guru, Chris Cracker, in Chonburi, a GBOB World trophy and free tickets and accommodation to represent Thailand at the 2013 GBOB World Finals. Winners of the regional contests will be presented with Baht 25,000 in cash or in music equipment, while the 2nd prize winners will receive Baht 10,000 in cash or in music equipment. Both first and second band winners will also receive a complimentary package to enable them to compete in the National Finals in Bangkok on June 15, 2013. Bands regardless of age, music genre or professional standing are eligible to compete, but they must play and sing their own original songs LIVE. About Global Battle of the Bands In 2004, the first GBOB World Finals were held in London, and saw 3,000 musicians from 16 countries perform LIVE to a 50,000-strong audience. Since then, the GBOB concept has visited more over 40 different countries around the world. Participants from Africa, Asia, Europe, North & South America have competed side by side yearly. International super stars and producers such as Rick Wakeman from the Yes band, Kee Marcello from the Europe band, Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols and Steve Lillywhite, former producer of U2 and the Rolling Stones have been involved in the GBOB World Finals since GBOB’s inception.
