Mitsubishi reports total sales volume of Mirage in 1 year almost 50,000 units

Bangkok--14 Mar--Mitsubishi Motors Mitsubishi Motors Thailand today reports 49,296 Mirage sold in Thailand while get warm welcome from export market and announce the launch of “Bloom Edition”, the special model, in order to celebrate 1st anniversary of Mirage. Mr. Nobuyuki Murahashi, President of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Company Limited today reveals the market response of the new Mitsubishi Mirage that Mitsubishi is successful with Mirage which was launched to Thai market since March 2012. It became the most popular among Eco Car Hatchback segment with 49% (as of January) market share while the accumulate sales volume since launching is 49,296 units (as of February) that were sold around 5,000 units a month or around 40-50% of Mitsubishi total sales volume. This year, the company target to sell Mirage 4,000 units per month. The Mirage is a “global compact car” produced at a new third factory at MMTh’s Laem Chabang Plant, the largest MMC plant and export hub outside of Japan. As of February 2013, more than 109,300 units were produced which are around 54% or almost 58,800 units for domestic and around 46% or 50,500 units for export. For Thai market, we still have back order around 10,000 units and customers have to wait not over than 2 month. For export market, Mr. Murahashi said that Mirage has successively rolled out in Brunei in June, Japan in August, Indonesia in September, Philippines and Malaysia in November, Bangladesh and Australia in January and New Zealand in February, and then in Europe. Mitsubishi has exported around 46,000 units of Mirage, and around 21,500 units were exported to Japan, following by Asian and Oceania. “We got warm welcome from export market, especially for Japanese market. The MIRAGE has been well received by Japanese auto magazines. Especially, RJC*, car of the year’s selection committee, awarded the MIRAGE as one of “6 Best CARS” in 2012, and commended its “high fuel efficiency”, “affordable price”, “easy to drive”. They said the MIRAGE made in Thailand satisfies everyone and meets requirements of a global compact car with conventional and traditional technologies of Mitsubishi Motors. With its extensive weight reduction and other refinements, the MIRAGE achieved the best in class fuel efficiency in registered gasoline vehicles in Japan, and showed pleasant and comfortable driving performance. Some technologies make the synergistic effects. In Australia and New Zealand, Mirage awarded with Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) five-star safety, while the journalists who have chance to experience Mirage guarantee said that the standard equipment is generous. There are 2 color available; Blossom Purple with pricing at 549,000 Baht and White Pearl with pricing at 554,000 Baht.
