Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited perpetuates its leadership in luxury automobile with the ASEAN premier of the new E-Class and the Concept Style Coup? prototype along with the complete lineup of 22 different models in all segments. The new E-Class ASEAN debut with three models including E 200 Executive, E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Executive and E300 BlueTEC HYBRID AMG Dynamic come with new, efficient engines, new assistance systems and a new design idiom, which Mercedes-Benz has comprehensively modernised the E-Class to extend its leading position in the luxury segment even further. They combine a host of comfort and safety features, all of which Mercedes-Benz refers to as “intelligent drive”. They include systems which for the first time can help to prevent accidents with crossing vehicles or pedestrians, Lane Keeping Assist which can help to prevent accidents with oncoming traffic, or anti-glare continuous high-beam headlamps. The new E-Class makes a significant step forward when it comes to efficiency and ecology too. This comes courtesy of new powerful four-cylinder petrol engines featuring sophisticated direct injection technology. With its new design the E-Class encapsulates efficiency, intelligence and emotional appeal in a visually superior manner.

The new E-Class: A refinementin superb sedan
The new E-Class was offered a considerably sharpened design with a cultivated, elegantly sporty look, as well as significantly enhanced comfort, high-quality appointments, efficiency and driving pleasure. For the first time, the E-Class is available with two different front-end designs: in Executiveversion, the front-line are combined with the classic Saloon grille with 3-louvre look and star on the bonnet. The AMG Dynamic version, meanwhile, incorporates the sports car radiator with central star, and as such offers an independent front-end look with a sporty emphasis. The front has been completely revised with new headlamps, which comprise all functional elements with a single headlamp lens but still ensure that the "four-eyed" look which is typical of the E-Class has been graphically retained. All the front lamps include dipped beam as well as the LED day-time headlamps which are fitted with partial LED and bi-xenon headlights. The Active Light System (ALS), Intelligent Lighting System (ILS), cornering light and Adaptive Highbeam Assist System are preinstalled.
Mercedes-Benz has carefully revised the interior of the E-Class in such a way that, together with the expressive, modern exterior, it forms a harmonious unit. The new, two-part trim on the dashboard is what first catches the eye: it stretches across the entire width of the interior and as such visually underscores the generous sense of space. It is bordered by a high-quality silver chrome frame and, in conjunction with all of the high-quality materials available for the trim, creates a consistent overall look. Choices available include fine woods (high-gloss brown eucalyptus wood, high-gloss brown burr walnut wood or high-gloss black ashwood). All of the materials can be freely selected, irrespective of the equipment line.
Other eye-catching elements include the instrument cluster and high-gloss framed central display. A new design for the air vents, an analogue clock between the two central air vents as well as redesigned controls beneath the head unit all serve to highlight the overall high-quality feel of the interior of the new E-Class. Precise joints and carefully defined curves also make a contribution in this respect too.
Contributing to the harmonious and at the same time functional appeal of the interior is the redesigned centre console. In conjunction with the automatic transmission, besides the controller for the infotainment system there is also no longer a selector lever positioned here. Instead, the automatic transmission is operated via the DIRECT SELECT lever and shift paddles on the new multifunction steering wheel.
The new E-Class is equipped with a Bluetooth functionality for smartphone connection and COMAND Online multimedia system which is capable for radio, DVD and internet connectivity as well as controller and navigation system used in E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID Executive and E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID AMG Dynamic for driving enjoyment.
The new E-Classoffers a combination of new safety technologies and driving comfort under “Intelligent Drive”system to ensure maximum safety. Innovative driver assistance systems, preventive protective measures, a stress-resistant body structure and highly effective restraint systems make the E-Class one of the safest vehicles in its segment. The basis for this is the integrated safety concept from Mercedes-Benz, which combines all elements of active and passive safety in a well-thought-out system — providing protection to the vehicle occupants and other road users. The integrated safety concept meets, to an unprecedented extent, the requirements for a high degree of vehicle and road safety, and is oriented towards real-world accidents.
In the event of an accident, the best possible protection is provided by the restraint systems, the comprehensive deployment of airbags and the structural safety of the body. An innovative sensor system triggers the safety systems depending on the situation and coordinates them all with each other. Restraint systems are the backbone of passive safety e.g 3-point seat belts for driver and front passenger with electronic, reversible belt tensioners in the PRE-SAFE? phase and pyrotechnic belt tensioners in the event of an accident as well as belt force limiters, 3-point seat belts on the outer seats in the rear with pyrotechnic belt tensioners, belt force limiters for all rear seats and rear belt status display in the instrument cluster, NECK-PRO head restraints for driver and front passenger which provide early support for the head in the event of a rear-end collision and as such are able to reduce the risk of whiplash.Also fitted on board the E-Class is an elaborate system of airbags, sidebags, pelvisbags, windowbags which are able to provide additional protection in the event of accidents.For new level of safety, the new E-Class models are equipped with intelligent assistance systems such as ATTENTION ASSIST, which is now able to warn of inattentiveness and drowsiness and Lane Keeping Assist and the Active Parking Assist which enables automated parking with active steering and brake control in both parallel and end-on spaces.
Engine and drive system: Superior Performance and economical consumption
All models of the new E-Class are available with a broad range of powerful and efficient petrol engine. A new element is the expansion of the petrol engine family with the addition of a four-cylinder petrol engine with direct injection with high-pressure rail and injection pressure of up to 200 bar based on the same trend-setting technology used in the latest generation of V6 and V8 engines from Mercedes-Benz. Its technology includes spray-guided combustion process, fast respondingpiezo injectors centrally located in the combustion chamber for multiple fuel injections, demand-controlled multi-spark ignition, combination of direct injection with turbocharging, optimized valve variable camshaft adjustment on the development of the camshaft adjuster for the intake and exhaust valves including a controlled oil pump. Thanks to the new development resulted in high efficiency and best in performance. The new E-Class achieves the fuel consumption rate of the petrol version at 16.39-17.24 km./litreor in other word, it costs at 2.31-2.43 Baht per kilometer. It produces CO2 emissions of 135-142 g./km.
E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID —Thailand’s first diesel hybrid luxury-class model that is most fuel-efficient
Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID is the most fuel-efficient luxury-class model in the world. It is also the first luxury-class vehicle with diesel hybrid engine with BlueTEC HYBRID technology that enhances fuel efficiency as well as offering more impressive driving experience with a more compact engine, virtually silence when starting off, and dampening internal combustion engine vibrations, thanks to ECO Start/Stop function. The components of the hybrid such as the high—performance electronics in the engine compartment can be directly incorporated with the internal combustion engine, allowing the hybrid models can be produced on the same assembly line as their conventional counterparts.It combines the four-cylinder diesel engine with an electric motor, thereby producing a system output of 170 kW (231 hp) and 780 Nm of torque. The E 300 BlueTEC HYBRID consumes 23.81-24.39 km./litre of fuel consumption,or it costs at 1.23-1.26 Bath/km and produces CO2 emissions of 107-110g./km. As such it occupies the leading position among economical models in the upper medium-size category.
The new E-Class comes with 7G-TRONIC PLUS transmission system along with ECO Start/Stop function andDIRECT SELECTmultifunction steering wheel with gearshift paddle.

Concept Style Coup?: a four-door and sporty coupe for the mid-size segment
The four-door Concept Style Coup? is a rebel when it comes to style: nonconformist, quick-response, provocative and powerful with three prominent lines that give sense of movement to the vehicle when viewed from the side, a large panoramic roof creates a light and airy interior as well as its tough, diamond-look grille, which follows through on design cues set by the Concept A-Class and the bonnet which is set right into the front end assembly for sharp look. The innovative headlamps of the Concept Style Coup? are also reminiscent of the ever wary, almost intimidating eyes of a predatory animal. Plus the interior that is designed with taut, expressively sculptured surfaces.
