Spa Cenvaree at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld is celebrating the Songkran festive season with the Songkran Sand Magic spa treatment, in which the key ingredient is sand, based on a tradition amongst Thai people in which sand is carried into the temples to build miniature sand stupas as a New Year cleansing ritual.
Songkran Sand Magic is priced at only Baht 3,450++ per person for a two and a half hour treatment and is available from 1-30 April 2013.
The treatment begins with a foot ritual using sand, sea salt, fresh mint leaf and neem tea to wash away negative energy, followed by a head-to-toe massage with virgin coconut oil. A sand pouch filled with heated sea sand, crushed sesame, grated ginger and warming black pepper, is dipped in coconut oil and then pressed at strategic points on the body to bring relaxation to the muscles. Hot steam from the sand pouch will draw out toxins and bring relief to joint conditions, as well as reducing water retention. A Sea Sand Body Exfoliating treatment follows, with a traditional Thai White Clay Body Mask offered as an alternative choice. Complete the spa journey with the choice of a Chakra Balancing Vichy Shower to stimulate muscle tissue or a Detoxifying Thai Herbal Tea Bath that will improve blood circulation, followed by a cup of detoxifying herbal tea to re-hydrate the body.
